How we became passionate about granite countertops
30 years ago we began designing and building kitchens that needed to appeal to homebuyers. At that time we began our semicustom home building that is now known as Meadowbrook Homes. Over the years we came up with gorgeous kitchen designs that pleased many homebuyers.
But one element was always missing. It was not affordable by our average homebuyer. As designers and architects we knew the great value of a granite countertop in a home but this luxury was practically limited for upscale homes at that time.
We desired to give every one of our annual 50 to 80 homebuyers the thrill of a granite countertop. Still our $250,000 to $350,000 homes could not bear the granite’s retail prices.
Knowing the great value our homebuyers place on granite countertops we decided on a daring move: Produce our own countertops from granite that we import, warehouse in own buildings and fabricate in our own shop. This would cut our cost, guarantee us top quality and help us please our homebuyers.
As our systems became functional and our processes troubleshoot the housing market began its downturn. With big granite inventory filling our warehouse and a shop with highly skilled fabricators we could not abandon the business or put the valuable assets to waste.
Three years ago we decided on our second daring move: Put our skills to work for public and expand our granite operation to delight our retail buyers by giving more and delivering better product. This would be our motto and our point of differentiation that gives us identity.
Naturally, our systems that were generated from our experience in pleasing homebuyers focus our effort on our granite customer. Like homebuyers, granite countertop buyers want an easy, delightful buying experience. Their investment must bring them the best results and they need to be assured of great service.
We know these facts real well. We also know that these facts are the essence of good business.
Proudly, we practice what we know and we make sure our clients see the outcome, feel it and reap the benefits of it. This is where we are now.
